Welcome to St. John's

We are a community of believers and seekers rooted in the faith of the Early Church and are dedicated to being living Witnesses of the Gospel. By advocating for and serving all people, especially those outcast and marginalized by society, we seek to do justice and to love kindness and to walk humbly with our God.

We continue Apostolic Succession by maintaining valid holy orders and in the Sacrifice of the Mass. We believe in the real presence of Christ in the Eucharist and celebrate the seven sacraments (Baptism, Eucharist/Holy Communion, Confirmation, Reconciliation/Penance, Anointing of the Sick, Marriage, and Holy Orders).

We are a welcoming community of believers open to all people regardless of age, race, gender identity and expression, or sexual orientation. We welcome all who come for Holy Communion, recognizing, that the Eucharist is not a prize, but it is a medicine for the soul. Following Jesus’ example we welcome everyone to join us in our prayer, sacraments, fellowship, and service to all those in need.

Our History

St. John’s Inclusive Catholic Community is a part of the Inclusive Catholic Diocese of the Chesapeake Bay.

In 2017, St. John’s returned to the Dupont Circle neighborhood of Washington, DC, with a community dedicated to celebrating our faith and sharing in fellowship. In 2024, we moved to our new home at the Dandelion Collective DC are are honored to help foster growth through collective resilience.

Following the example of Jesus, the Good Shepherd, we continue to pray and seek to care for the community around us. The call to not only pray but also to care for those in need is so important as members of St. John’s. Our members also seek to care for those in need and supporting our region’s volunteer groups.

The Inclusive Catholic Diocese of the Chesapeake Bay has its Apostolic origins in the Roman Catholic, Old Catholic, and Orthodox Churches. We carry on the legacy of the Church as expressed in the first seven councils of the ancient church.
