About the Inclusive Catholic Diocese of the Chesapeake Bay

Founding Bishop
Bishop Charlie was elevated and ordained a bishop in 2001 and founded the Diocese of the Chesapeake Bay. Under his mentorship, we are a spiritual home away from home for all who seek to know Christ, to grow in the love he asked of us and to serve all God’s people worldwide, being available to all in both good and difficult times.
When Bishop Braun began his ministry in Washington, DC, he worked to form a community of faith centered in St. Paul’s understanding of the inclusivity of the Church. In line with his teaching, he wrote letters for the Diocese regarding the importance of the Sacraments of Marriage and Ordination being accessible to all confirmed adults.
